BP's new Skarv FPSO will be the will be the most advanced and largest Harsh Water Gas Processing FPSO ever deployed in the Norwegian Sea. As you can imagine, its anchoring system is just as massive. The entire mooring consists of fifteen 100ton anchors and over 1km of chain.
Recently, the brand new chain arrived from Spain by boat to be met by Vest Kran, five all terrain heavy lifting cranes and a 900ton pre-engineered solution.
Since there is no crane in the world that can lift the combined load of 7500tons, Vest Kran had to calculate the payload over the chain's length. Then determine the appropriate lifting capacity of each crane and the coinciding spread of the cranes to the final destination. The weight was then distributed evenly over the cranes.
Vest Kran's ability to consistently deliver logical and efficient heavy lifting solutions ensured once again a safe relocation of the mooring. This mega job was just another example of how Vest Kran stays ahead of competition.
