August, the sun shining from a cloudless sky, and the gulls squawking while flying over the sea sparkling like a 1000 diamonds. It's still summer at Ågotnes CCB, and the Vest Kran crew is enjoying the late summer with the view from his Demag CC 2400.
It is a great view we have here, says CEO Morten Martin Essen as he looks out through the large windows from the Vest Kran offices at Ågotnes. From the window you can see the CCB base full of activity surrounded by beautiful scenery, sparkling sea, and orange crane booms extending toward the sky.
CCB is the main base for the supply activities of the petroleum fields in the Tampen area of the North Sea. These include Statfjord, Gullfaks, Freddy, Troll, Huldra and Kvitebjørn. CCB is located at Ågotnes ca. 20 minute drive from Bergen. The location at Hjeltefjordbassenget by the entrance to Bergen, and close to Sture, Kollsnes and Hanøytangen make CCB a natural choice for businesses in the petroleum industry in Hordaland. The company has been in operation since 1973 and has built up considerable expertise in the service and supply services, maintenance and port operations.
Vest Kran's summer has been marked by great activity at the CCB base.
For the moment we are lifting blisters on the platform Songa Delta. The blisters will be filled with liquid and fitted on the underside of the platform deck. In this way these act as stabilizers for the platform. The platform will then be put into production for Statoil where it will drill and complete wells. These are heavy and advanced lifts that require great machine power. To handle the job, Vest Kran is using its 400 t crawler crane, Terex Demag CC 2400. The blisters will be lifted under the platform adjacent land, and the crawler crane is transported by barge to get into the correct position. This is a complicated job that requires a lot of planning and preparation, and we are very happy for the good and close cooperation with CCB round job.
In July, Vest Kran assembled a new harbor crane for the base of the type Favelle Favco. We are talking about large and heavy parcels, and also here Vest Kran's second largest crawler crane was used. The heaviest lifts were about 125tonn. Vest Kran Engineering Department designed and calculated the lifts in cooperation with CCB.
While waiting for all the parts for the new facility, Vest Kran performed various tasks at the CCB base, including the lifting of reels for the boat Havila Subsea, Subsea 7 with a weight of 120 tons. Approx. 20 people showed up to watch the lifting of the reel to the Subsea 7.
Vest Kran also dismantled the now-retired port crane for the CCB. For this job, was used a Demag LTM 1500, a 500 t crane.
CCB is a very professional customer and have always had a high standard for the tasks to be performed. All assignments are carefully planned, and no assignments are executed before SJA is in place.
Our skilled crane operators have shown their best side, and our clients are very satisfied with the jobs Vest Kran has performed so far.
Vest Kran is very happy with their good cooperation with "neighbor" CCB, and look forward to a hopefully sunny and windless autumn at the base.
